bulletDraft print of bearing
bulletInspect housing, ball fits and/or spherical ring fits for abnormal wear
bulletPressure test any water jackets for leaks to operating pressure
bulletIf leaks are detected, inform the customer prior to any metal repair
bulletMetal stitch the defective part if approved by customer
bulletCheck O.D. insulation, if the bearing is insulated.
bulletMachine and/or melt out existing Babbitt using evenly applied heat.
bulletClean the housing
bulletTin and Prep the bearing shell to receive the Babbitt material
bulletHeat the Babbitt to proper pouring temperature
bulletUse proper quality controlled babbitting procedures for the style of bearing
bulletCheck the horizontal joints for proper contact
bulletReam the dowel holes to insure proper alignment
bulletReplace dowel pins as necessary
bulletUltrasonically test for proper percentage of bond
bulletRe-insulate the bearing as necessary
bulletFinish machine the bearing; hold the tolerances to customer specifications
bulletMachine relief's in the bearing, install proper angles on relief edges and chamfer for optimum circulation of oil
bulletTap and die all threaded connections
bulletRun measurement and quality checks by machinists independent of each other
bulletDocument the measurements for "As Released" reports to the customer
bulletPaint all exposed surfaces
bulletBox the bearing in heavy wooden crates
bulletCoat non-painted surfaces with lubricant for corrosion protection
