Dimensionally check the housing, ball fits and/or spherical ring fits to OEM specifications.
Check insulation, if applicable
Machine out the existing Babbitt to avoid distortion
Clean the existing housing
Evenly heat the bearing shell to the proper temperature
Pre-tin the bearing shell to provide for the strongest adhesion of Babbitt

Ream all dowel holes to insure proper bearing half alignment.
Replace dowel pins if necessary.
Rough machine the bearing bore and perform ultrasonic bond inspection to determine the integrity of the Babbitt bond.
Minimum acceptable bond is 95% total Babbitt area and 95% in the load carrying (middle 1/3 of the bottom half) area
Re-insulate the bearing, if necessary, and mega check.
Final machine  the bearing bore to the finish bore diameter or journal size and clearance as provided by the customer.
Final machining tolerance should be held to within .001". Maximum taper in the bore is .001" per foot
On thrust bearings, the thrust mount must be perpendicular to the bearing bore within .001"
Machine relief's in the bearing and install proper angles on the relief edges for optimum  oil circulation.
Tap and die all the threaded connections.
Perform quality control checks by a machinist and inspector independent of each other.
