In the re-babbitting process bearings can be re-engineered to the design specifications

The repair process allows several methods of bonding Babbitt to a bearing housing: Babbitt can be centrifugally cast, static cast, and tig welded.

American Power Service is one of the few quality bearing repair shops with the capacity to spin cast bearings of all sizes with their two machines.

Cleaning of the housing is one of the most important steps in the repair process. Cleaning, along with fluxing the housing controls housing temperatures.

Controlling the molten Babbitt temperature and bearing cooling temperatures are all special steps in the procedure required to achieve proper bond strength.

Only a qualified, full time, specialized repair facility has the special knowledge to insure a proper bond.

Babbitt bearings, if repaired properly, are a reliable part of equipment which runs for years and requires little maintenance.
